Functional training refers to exercises and activities that mimic real-life movements and engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously. These workouts are designed to improve overall strength, stability, balance, and coordination, making everyday tasks easier to perform. For individuals, incorporating functional training exercises into their fitness routine can enhance their overall physical capabilities and functional fitness.
In this unit, you will follow a 12-weeks program specifically built to enhance kicking and combat sports abilities by the expert Diego Freire, with key points transfers from multiple Olympic Coach Philippe Pinerd.

Originally from Brazil, Diego Freire collaborated with Philippe to develop programs specifically tailored for fighters. These programs aim to improve not only their overall physical condition but also their effectiveness on the field of Combat.

Philippe Pinerd has developed an optimized set of tests to measure the progress of athletes synchronized with a functional periodized training: the Taipa protocols.
In collaboration with Dr. Gletechen Jimenez Fernandez, the protocols have also benefited from a scientific analysis to support and improve its relevance.
General and specific tests are provided with detailed explanations to ensure they are conducted correctly.
The unit is available in three formats:
- Personal monitoring system: For athletes who want to track their own progress.
- Coach monitoring system: Allowing coaches to monitor up to 10 athletes.
- Parent monitoring system : Designed for parents who want to be involved in their children's development and progress.

In recent years, through deep observation of the factors influencing elite athletes performance in top-level events, I have solidified three main recommendations that I would like to emphasize for current Taekwondo athletes:
- Imposing Pressure on Opponents: This entails not just executing strikes but also assuming control of the ring.
- Distance Awareness: Mastery of creating and managing desired distances crucial for executing techniques effectively.
- Finishing Actions: Developing the ability to seamlessly transition through phases of attack and sustain momentum until completing the action.
These principles, honed through extensive experience and careful analysis, are pivotal for achieving consistent success at the highest levels of Taekwondo competition.
Alireza is a former Taekwondo World Champion, a three-time winner of the Asian Taekwondo Championships, and the current Head Coach of the Belgian National Taekwondo Team.
He holds a Master's degree in Management of Physical Education from the University of Azad (Karaj-Tehran).
Alireza has won numerous medals in international competitions, both as a competitor and as a coach.

The method relies on a series of basic posture patterns. Once the postures are mastered, you will be guided to flow patterns transitioning from a posture to another.
Movements are designed to help you improve your general health, activate the various circulations trough correct breathing and muscle contraction, gain agility and reinforce flexibility in muscles and tendons.
